Nail Technician

The Nail Technology program trains the student in the basic and advanced techniques of nail care and design, acrylics and dip technology. This course makes safety and sanitary nail care a priority as determined by the Kentucky Board of Cosmetology. Students who complete the 450 hour program must sit for the state relicense exam prior to working in the field as a nail technician.

Manicurist

Pedicurist

  1. To provide training opportunities that will develop relevant technical skills and work procedures along with a positive professional attitude.
  2. To provide classroom/training facilities, instructional materials, and up to-date equipment that meet current business and industry standards.
  3. To provide practical work-based training, allowing students to apply real life application to their skill.
  4. To gain proficiency in skills that will result in employment and/or advancements in education and training.
  5. To understand and demonstrate the safe use of tools and related instruments in theNail Technician field.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics employment of manicurists and pedicurists is projected to grow 33 percent from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations.

About 18,800 openings for manicurists and pedicurists are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.

The median hourly wage for manicurists and pedicurists was $13.40 in May 2020 according to the BLS.

College Salon at Our Campus

Our cosmetology students are ready to provide hair, makeup, waxing, facials and nail services. All are supervised by a licensed cosmetologist and it helps our students fulfill their hours requirement for licensure.

Salon hours are as follows:

Winchester Salon:
Monday – Friday - 10:30 am – 3:30 pm

Nicholasville Salon:
Monday – Friday - 10:30 am – 3:30 pm

Monday – Friday - 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm
